Does any of this sound familiar?…

  • Ellie says she can only read the treble clef.
  • Fidgety Phil won’t sit still long enough to learn a tune.
  • Polly wants to be able to play a “real tune”.
  • Jo doesn’t want to be told what to play – he just wants to show you his amazing sounds!
  • Al is confused now his thumbs are not on Middle C for the first time!
  • Jess knows all the notes on her flashcards but doesn’t recognise them in her music.
  • Josh is bored of practising the same thing over and over again.
  • Tiny Tina struggles to reach 5 notes.
  • Jane says she plays with flat fingers because she isn’t strong enough to use round fingers.
  • Jim can’t play with both hands at the same time.
  • Dan can’t read yet.  He forgets what he is supposed to practice.
  • Alex can’t play in 3 time.
  • Mike wants to play in a band but doesn’t feel confident playing without written notation.

The structured approach of Lightning Piano ensures pupils develop skills and understanding without gaps or shortfalls later. It deliberately doesn’t begin with the “Thumbs on Middle C” position but takes pupils on a fun journey of discovery, exploring the whole piano from the start.

More experienced and creative teachers can tailor the approach to suit their own teaching style and preferences and to personalise their teaching for individual pupils by supplementing the material. It can easily be adapted for older children and adults.
